Lawrence 'Larry' Delaney, 65, Of New Milford

NEW MILFORD, N.J. -- Lawrence “Larry” Delaney, of New Milford, died Thursday, Nov. 24. He was 65.

Born in Jersey City, he grew up in Englewood before settling in New Milford in 1983. He attended Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood and St. Peter’s College in Jersey City. 

He was a sales representative specializing in industrial chemicals and the owner of Danielson Supply since 1988. An avid Jeopardy and PBS News Hour fan, he obtained his U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain’s License in 2013. He was the proud captain of a 30-foot Catalina Sailboat for 25 years. His passions were not limited to sailing, as he played the piano and guitar, traveled the world and was an avid fan of the New York sports teams. He could do and fix anything around the house and was loved as the neighborhood dad to his son Dan’s friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mindy; son, Daniel Delaney; and siblings, Beverly Schmidhamer, Margaret Willer, Edna Delaney and Damian Delaney. 

He was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel and Denis Delaney. 

A funeral service will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday at the Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1151 River Road, New Milford, (the family will receive relatives and friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to services). Burial to follow in George Washington Park in Paramus. There also will be visitation from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
